In the March Monthly Book Spotlight, Reference Librarian Michael Lavin writes about The Last Fine Time by Verlyn Klinkenborg, a book about a Polish-American family and the bar they opened on Buffalo's East Side in 1922.

I read this book a few years ago, and my reaction to this book was somewhat like Mike's. It was hard to tell if the author was "in" or "out" of the picture, if his tone was as a participant or observer.
