Banned Books Week

What do The Catcher in the Rye, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Gone With the Wind, The Lord of the Flies, To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984 have in common? They are all books that have been challenged or banned over the years.

You might think that challenging books is a thing of the past, but hundreds of books in schools and libraries are challenged every year (including the Harry Potter series).

This week is the 25th observance of Banned Books Week. For more information, check out these two sites:

Google Book Search: Celebrate Your Freedom to Read

Niagara University Library has many books that have been challenged or banned. You can locate them using the Library Catalog.
