The Library is now providing access to Grove Art Online, a comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day. It features:

• The entire text of The Dictionary of Art, ed. Jane Turner (1996, 34 vols.) and The Oxford Companion to Western Art, ed. Hugh Brigstocke (2001).
  
• Over 1,500 thumbnail art images and line drawings displayed in the text.
  
• Clickable cross-references.
  

New Religion Databases

The Library is now providing access to the following religion databases:

Encyclopedia of Religion
This is the second edition of this highly-regarded encyclopedia, which includes more than 3,000 entries.

New Catholic Encyclopedia
This reference work provides scholarly presentation of persons and subjects related to Catholicism and the humanities.

New Catholic Encyclopedia Jubilee (Supplement)
This supplement focuses on the pontificate of John Paul II and includes thematic essays that present the man and his work.

Spring 2005 Excellence in Customer Service Award

Congratulations to Cataloging Department Technical Assistant Kris Schrader for being named the Spring 2005 recipient of the Niagara University Library Excellence in Customer Service Award. Kris was recognized for "being so cooperative in assisting other departments in providing service to patrons."

Librarian Named NU Employee of the Month

Summer Hours

Beginning the week of May 22, the Library's summer hours are as follows:

Monday-Thursday: 8:00am to 9:00pm
Friday: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Sunday: Closed

Please note: the Library will be closed on Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day) and Monday, July 4 (Independence Day).

Excellence in Library Service Awards - 2004/05

The Library would like to congratulate the 2004/05 recipients of the Excellence in Library Service Award. This award is presented to senior work-study students who have demonstrated quality service to patrons and dedication to their job continuously during their entire academic experience here at Niagara University. The students honored at the May 9 award ceremony were Jill Brehm, Maria Burke, Elizabeth Ligas, Sheena Pratts, Edward Reilly III, Raysa Rogers and Natalie Rose.

NEW! NYS Area Health Education Center System Database

The New York State Area Health Education Center (AHEC) System operates a Data Resource Center that provides health, population, health workforce and educational data to the AHECs and regions. The data, located in a data warehouse and accessible through an internal web site, are in the form of tables and maps that can be readily downloaded by the user. You'll find more than 1,000 books that might be fun or enjoyable to read in your leisure time.

As the end of the semester approaches, you're busy writing papers, making spreadsheets, creating presentations, etc. Unfortunately, sometimes computers crash, freeze or experience other problems.

Don't lose all your hard work -- remember to SAVE frequently!

FYI: You can buy a CD-R (with jewel case) for $1.00 or a floppy disk for 25 cents at the Circulation Desk.

The INFOPASS: How to Borrow Books From Other Local College Libraries

Attention students! The end of the semester is fast approaching ... does another local college library have a book you need for your research? Take advantage of the Library Access Project and apply for an INFOPASS. This card will allow you to check out books from most other college libraries in Western New York.

To apply, please bring your NU ID card to the Reference Desk on the first floor and talk to the reference librarian on duty.
